Dr. Puspita Das

Dr. Puspita Das is working as Professor and Head of the department of Extension and Communication Management and also officiating as Dean College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University, Tura Meghalaya. She has dedicated her thirty five years service in different tribal districts of Odisha and Meghalaya. She is the key person for the establishment of two Krishi Vigyan Kendras under College of community Science in two districts of Garo Hills of Meghalaya. She has received awards for outstanding contribution in journals and excellence in research. She has a brilliant academic carrier, proficiency holder from Avinashilingam University Coimbatore and obtained Ph,D from Utkal University.  She has published six numbers of books and large number of articles, research papers, booklets. She has completed many research projects. Her books “Gender in Agricultural Development”, “Gender Analysis in Agriculture –Grass  root Realities”, emphasizes gender issues in Agriculture and provide reading materials for extension professionals, students and researchers on women empowerment as reference books. Her book “The Nokmas” (Village Headman) and “Tribal Agriculture-An overview of Tribal Agriculture of Garo Hills, Meghalaya, India” gives a brief idea on role of leaders in agriculture in general and Meghalaya in particular. Besides that her book on “Women empowerment and Microfinance” and “Self help groups problems, opportunities and challenges ahead” are very popular among students and researchers. Her long and enriched experience contributes and encourages students for a long and successful journey.
